This month we remember Skinny Minnie. She went from being just skin and bones – a very pathetic looking creature – to the sheep who would jump up on her back legs to be fed. Full of life. It has been a joy looking after her in her retirement.

She came to us in February 2022 and looked so unhappy. She was from the main flock so wasn’t tame but quickly responded to hand feeding.

By March 2023 she was looking much more cheerful!!!

My favourite photo – she escaped from the barn in the summer and went walkabout round the farm.

She was tempted back with some food.

In other news the long dry summer is over. The rain has returned and the grass is growing again. The sheep have returned to the orchard and are very happy to be back on grass.

One of the blackthorn bushes has dropped into the field and the sheep are munching on sloe berries. I don’t think they are ripe yet but the sheep don’t seem to mind. Here are Pecky, 937 and Champion.
