Feeding sheep step 1. Make sure everyone is outside the pen. Otherwise you will be knocked over trying to put feed in the trough.

Note you will be closely observed.

Step 2 open the hurdles and good luck. Danger or trampling or hurdle damage likely.

Picture4

Step 3 after feeding try and coax everyone back out of the pen. It’s like shepherding cats. As one leaves another re-enters. It takes ages and patience.

Picture5

Step 4 lock up the empty hurdles ready for tomorrow. If you don’t empty and lock them tonight you have absolutely zero chance of doing it tomorrow before feeding.

Huge thanks to Rosie and Sophie for helping me out with the feeding a couple of times a week. They take their lives (and their toes) in their hands when they enter the pen. The sheep are always starving and so noisy!

6 Guinea fowl sunbathing. It’s been a long dry spring.

The sheep are developing funny little bald patches where their wool is lifting off. Healthy sheep produce lots of lanolin and it makes shearing much easier. You can almost rub the wool away here on Daft.
