Another minus 3 morning at the farm. The sheep were glad to be fed early. The ground is frozen solid and they gingerly pick their way over the mud.

It’s no longer freezing so everyone is happy. The ground is still muddy though. Everyone is tucking into haylage from the barn. Haylage smells sweet – it is wrapped in plastic after cutting to retain the moisture which allows it to ferment slightly.

The Guinea fowl were quite a long way from their usual spot this morning – milling around down here on the way to the barn. The fog is quite thick you can’t see the tractor or the barn. They are not stupid – they recognised the red pick up and by the time I’d returned to the pond they were back waiting for their mealworms.

How can one sheep get such a dirty face? Skinny Minnie looks like she has been working down the coal mines. It is a mud fest though at the moment.

Twiglet is the soppiest. He is the only sheep born into the flock so we have had him from day 1. He loves nothing more than a big cuddle and wags his tail.

The Guinea fowl recognise the truck and are running alongside me as they know they are going to be fed! They also like the tractor for the same reason.

It must be time to take a Friday morning break. I can hear tummies rumbling from here. Check out ‘The Pantry’ on the business park, it’s at unit 4! Lovely coffee and cake – I speak from experience! But there’s more, they are a cafe, eat in or take-away and a shop. You can pre-order breakfast, lunch and hot drinks by messaging via WhatsApp to 07554922464 with your order and the time you would like to collect. Of course, you can just drop in – oh, and pups are welcome so you could grab a coffee while walking the mutt!
