🐑 🐑 🐑
1984’s lambs are doing brilliantly – here chilling out in the sunshine. They will run up to say hello – following mum – but we are not yet able to touch them. They are still very wary. Perhaps they can remember the elastic band going onto their tails.
Our lot are being feisty with plenty of head butting.

Champion has a very deep cut on his head above his eyeball this morning. It must be from head butting the others.
We’ve treated it with anti biotic spray and he has been sheared using the manual hand shears. In record time as well. Putting him in a pen to do it stops him wandering off. And we were able to do it with him stood up as opposed to flipping him onto his bottom.

A spot of bottle feeding …
And then despite the nasty head would Champion has clearly still been fighting with at least 3 of the other sheep. The blue smudge gives him away.

We have orf. It’s a nasty contagious skin condition around the mouth and nose which looks a bit like cold sores.
Usually we only get it with the lambs. Once they have had it they don’t usually get it again.
It can be passed to humans so we are handling with care.

🐑 🐑 🐑
The main flock and their lambs are all getting on well.
We’ve had to supplement ours with some hay as the grass in the orchard is so short still.

Time for Bramble to start another diet.

🐑 🐑 🐑
A glorious bank holiday Monday with everyone shading under a tree.
And one of the 3 orphan lambs enjoying some TLC.
